Ryan “Ghenigho” Rich

Ryan has had multiple initiations in Bwiti and Mwiri, and trained with Bwiti elders and teachers in Gabon. That lineage is the ground everything else in this work stands on. He founded Root Healing, co-founded Bassé Root Church and the Missoko Bwiti Alliance, and co-organizes the Iboga Leadership Summit in Gabon, where he works to keep Iboga practice professional, effective, and done in real partnership with the tradition and its elders.

How Ryan works

You are the Healer. Ryan’s role is to help you get there.

Before anything else, Ryan’s work is about holding the space. In ceremony, that means staying with you through the night, steady and present, so you can go wherever the medicine takes you. That can mean the hardest, most tender places you carry, and you won’t be facing them alone. Around the ceremony, it means a container built from Bwiti tradition and care, strong enough that you can let your guard down inside it.

Ryan doesn’t hand you answers or tell you who to be. He gives you the tools of Bwiti and Iboga, shares what he knows and has lived, and trusts you to find your own way through. The aim is to strengthen your own knowing, not to make you depend on him or anyone else.

That support doesn’t end when the retreat does. Ryan and the Root Healing team walk with you through aftercare and integration, helping what opened in ceremony take root in your relationships, your habits, and the way you live each day.

In Ryan’s words:
n heart-led action, the work I do is simply supporting people on their own path of liberation. It’s about breaking free from the chains of programming — those ingrained beliefs and behaviors we’ve absorbed from and created for family, school, friends, and society. Supporting you on a journey to untangle these threads, helping you shed patterns that were never truly yours, those designed to please others instead of honoring your authentic self.

This isn’t about ascending to some lofty, transcendent state. It’s the opposite — a path to radical grounding, a return to the raw beauty of our human nature, and our connection with nature, with reality. Forget about chasing external purpose; this journey is about rediscovering the profound meaning in simply being. When you embrace the essence of your existence, when you align with the wisdom of nature instead of clinging to illusions of control, your unique gifts will naturally overflow, enriching your world in ways you never imagined.

It’s a reclamation of life itself. We exist in an era where we have become disconnected from reality through hyper-connectivity, perpetually plugged in — but to the wrong sources. The internet has become our synthetic habitat, our phones, computers, and TVs serving as distorted windows into this digital realm. We’ve built ourselves an airtight, extremely faulty, smart home, a fortress against the uncertainties we can’t control, and in doing so, have isolated ourselves from the vibrant world that lies just beyond.

True freedom demands we venture out into the untamed wilderness of our existence — to embrace our own wildness. It beckons us to encounter the world in its raw, unfiltered essence, to accept its breathtaking interconnectedness and the ephemeral nature of all things. It’s about recognizing the vast, boundless space within and without us, where rigid structures dissolve, and it’s about learning to dance with the rhythm of life itself.

To meet life in the most crazy, radical, revolutionary way:

To
just be.
