Traditional Iboga Retreat in Tepoztlán, Mexico (6 Days) - ROOT HEALING

Six days of traditional Iboga ceremony in the Missoko Bwiti lineage, held at a private hillside center outside Tepoztlán. Two ceremonies, cardiac screening and EKG monitoring, and integration that continues after you go home.

Our facilitators are initiated in Gabon, empowered by their elders, and have extensive experience holding hundreds of successful and safe ceremonies for over a thousand people . The ceremony structure, the music, the fire talk, and the way you are held through the night are carried as they were given to us.

We work with whole, wild, aged iboga root bark sourced through our Gabonese partners, not isolated ibogaine.

The retreat

The retreat is built around two overnight ceremonies. Each is followed by a day of be-ing, unstructured time to meet what surfaced. Preparation begins weeks before you arrive, and integration begins on site and continues after you leave.

Nov 27 (optional): Arrive the evening before and settle in.
Nov 28: Orientation, EKG testing, one-on-ones, and the fire talk. First Iboga ceremony that night.
Nov 29: Day of be-ing.
Nov 30: Morning group, counseling, and one-on-ones. Second Iboga ceremony that night.
Dec 1: Day of be-ing.
Dec 2: Integration activities, planning, and closing circle.
Dec 3: Depart before noon.

Safety

Every guest completes cardiac and contraindication screening before arrival, reviewed individually by our medical team. On site, we check or monitor every guest with EKG equipment configured to our protocols, and we keep defibrillators on hand. At least one facilitator at every retreat is certified in BLS and/or ACLS. We don’t use rotating shifts or night staff you haven’t met. Your facilitators stay awake with you through every ceremony.

The center

The center is a private hillside compound on 5,000 square metres of gardens and terraces facing the Tepozteco cliffs. It has whitewashed adobe bedrooms, an infinity pool, two hot tubs, and shaded decks where most of the processing between ceremonies happens. It’s 80 minutes from Mexico City airport and eight minutes from town. Groups are limited to eight guests.
